Treat yourself to the only vacation on the globe that combines world class cooking with 5 star safari experiences. Cooking Wild is a novel alternative to cooking in Tuscany or France. You get to go on early morning game drives to track the Big 5 and come back in the afternoon to cook in a luxury lodge.

The experience of learning to prepare food in the African bush, cooking under the stars, with the sounds of the night, the lion, hyena, nightjars and owls calling; these are memories that will change your life forever.

Find your roots in Africa

GOLD Restaurant has perfected the development and provision of sophisticated African and Cape Malay food. Stir Crazy Cooking School manages demonstrations and cooking classes, which take place over four or six days on Sanbona and Shamwari luxury Game Reserves. The first programme is set to commence in the last quarter of 2014.

Have it your way

Put together your own group and customise your itinerary or join a bunch of like-minded foodies on a pre-scheduled programme. Either way, you’ll get to experience the edible essence of Africa from Cairo to Cape Town.

Naturally, wine pairings are part of your hands on culinary experience and Rickety Bridge, with its full range of quality wines is our preferred wine partner. However, at Sanbona we will explore other premier wines of the region as well.

Need to know

The minimum booking is two pax. The fully inclusive per person per day rack rate for both game reserves, is R6 000 for a four-day cooking safari. A fully inclusive two-day add on is R4 000 per person per day. Standard tour operator rates are available. We also arrange transfers from Cape Town city to Sanbona and Port Elizabeth airport to Shamwari. Scheduled weekly departure dates for both Sanbona and Shamwari are to be advised.
